  • Variety: Ball Sunduri Apple Ber is a popular improved hybrid ber (Indian jujube) variety.
  • Shape & Size: Medium to large, round-to-oval fruits resembling small apples.
  • Color: Turns from light green to golden-yellow or reddish-brown at maturity.
  • Taste: Sweet, crisp, and juicy pulp with a pleasant aroma.
  • Fruit Weight: Usually 40–80 grams per fruit.
  • Season: Harvested mainly in December to February.
  • Shelf Life: Longer than local varieties, making it suitable for transport and marketing.

🚜 Farming & Cultivation:-

1. Climate & Soil:-

  • Thrives in semi-arid and arid regions.
  • Requires hot and dry climate during flowering and fruiting.
  • Grows well in sandy loam, alluvial, or well-drained soils (pH 6.0–7.5).

2. Propagation:-

  • Commonly propagated by budding or grafting on wild ber rootstock.
  • Seed propagation is not recommended for commercial farming.

3. Planting:-

  • Best time: July–August (monsoon season).
  • Spacing: 6 × 6 m or 5 × 5 m depending on soil fertility.
  • Pits: 60 × 60 × 60 cm, filled with topsoil + FYM (farmyard manure).

4. Irrigation:-

  • Requires minimal irrigation but needs water during flowering, fruit set, and fruit development.
  • Drip irrigation is highly recommended.

5. Manuring & Fertilization:-

  • Apply 20–25 kg FYM per plant annually.
  • Fertilizers per mature plant (per year):
    • Urea: 1 kg
    • Superphosphate: 500 g
    • MOP: 500 g
  • Apply in two splits: before flowering & after fruit set.

6. Pruning:-

  • Regular pruning is essential for proper canopy development.
  • Remove dry, diseased, and overcrowded branches after harvest.

7. Flowering & Fruit Set:-

  • Begins flowering in September–October.
  • Fruits mature by December–February.

8. Pests & Diseases:-

  • Fruit fly is the major pest → Use bait traps, neem extract, and timely harvesting.
  • Powdery mildew may attack → Use sulfur-based fungicides if required.

9. Yield:-

  • Starts bearing from the 3rd year.
  • Average yield: 40–60 kg per tree per year under good management.
