🌵 Description of Brunei Dragon:-

  • Type: A special variety of dragon fruit developed/popular in Brunei Darussalam.
  • Fruit Size: Medium to large, usually 400–800 g per fruit.
  • Skin: Bright pinkish-red skin with smooth green-tipped scales.
  • Flesh Color: Deep red to magenta, very attractive.
  • Taste: Naturally sweet and juicy, with Brix levels 18–22°, making it sweeter than many common varieties.
  • Shape: Oval to round, with firm flesh and tiny edible seeds.
  • Shelf Life: Fairly good if harvested at maturity and stored cool.

🌱 Cultivation of Brunei Dragon:-

1. Climate & Soil:-

  • Grows best in tropical & subtropical climates.
  • Temperature: 20–32°C.
  • Needs 6–8 hours sunlight daily.
  • Soil: Well-drained sandy loam, pH 5.5–7.

2. Propagation:-

  • Propagated through stem cuttings (30–40 cm).
  • Cuttings should be dried for 2–3 days before planting to avoid rotting.

3. Planting:-

  • Spacing: 2.5 m × 2.5 m (commercial farming).
  • Requires strong support poles/trellis system for climbing.
  • Best planting time: Beginning of monsoon or spring.

4. Irrigation:-

  • Requires moderate irrigation.
  • Water every 7–10 days during dry season.
  • Avoid waterlogging; drip irrigation recommended.

5. Flowering & Fruiting:-

  • Starts flowering in 8–12 months.
