  • Flesh Color: Deep yellow, fiberless, firm.
  • Taste & Aroma: Sweet with a distinctive aroma, slightly tangy undertone.
  • Texture: Smooth, juicy, less fibrous.
  • Sweetness (TSS/Brix): 18–20° Brix.
  • Special Feature: Late-season variety; harvested in June–July, when other mangoes are mostly over.

Farming / Cultivation Guide

  1. Climate Requirement
    • Well-suited to tropical & subtropical climates.
    • Thrives best at 24–38°C.
    • Requires dry weather during flowering & fruit setting.
  2. Soil Requirement
    • Prefers well-drained loamy, red, or alluvial soils.
    • Soil pH: 6.0–7.5.
    • Avoid saline & waterlogged soils.
  3. Propagation
    • Commonly propagated by stone grafting, veneer grafting, or epicotyl grafting.
  4. Planting
    • Spacing: 8m × 8m (100–120 trees per acre).
    • Best planting season: June–July (monsoon).
  5. Irrigation
    • Young plants: Water every 7–10 days.
    • Mature plants: Irrigate during flowering, fruit setting, and fruit development.
    • Stop irrigation 2–3 weeks before harvest.
  6. Manure & Fertilizers (per tree per year)
    • FYM (cow dung): 20–25 kg.
    • NPK dose:
      • 1–3 years: 200–400 g each.
      • Mature trees: 2–3 kg each of N, P, K.
    • Supplement with Zn, B, Mg for better fruiting.
  7. Pruning & Training
    • Train for a single trunk with well-spread branches.
    • Remove diseased, crossing, or weak branches.
  8. Flowering & Fruiting
    • Flowers appear in panicles (Feb–March).
    • Fruits mature in 100–120 days after flowering.
    • Harvesting season: June–July (late variety).
  9. Pests & Diseases
    • Pests: Fruit fly, mango hopper, mealy bug.
    • Diseases: Powdery mildew, anthracnose, bacterial canker.
    • Control: Neem oil sprays, pheromone traps, or fungicide sprays as required.
  10. Yield
  • Starts fruiting in 4–5 years.
  • Mature tree yield: 80–100 kg per year with good management.

Profit Potential
Neelum is a profitable variety due to its late harvesting season, regular bearing habit, and strong market demand. Its extended availability (June–July) ensures higher prices compared to early-season mangoes.
